The Mountain States Texas Longhorn Association exists to assist, encourage, and educate those breeders engaged in the breeding and propagation of Texas Longhorn cattle, and to assist, encourage, and educate others of the benefits of Texas Longhorn cattle

The Mountain States Texas Longhorn Association covers Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico.

National Animal Identification System (NAIS)

The United States Department of Agriculture is attempting to put into place, a program whereby all livestock owners would register each of their animals as well as the location of their farm/ranch. At the December 13, 2006, meeting or the MSTLA, the members adopted a position statement opposing this effort.
